MBR Explained
MBR is a holistic, person-centred approach that utilises a set of tools and techniques to support individuals experiencing symptoms of chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, post-viral fatigue, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Long Covid, anxiety, depression, and other chronic conditions. MBR aims to restore balance and harmony within the body and mind, promoting overall health and fulfilment.
MBR involves a series of one-to-one coaching sessions and the practical application of tools in your daily life. Together, we will explore the root causes of your symptoms, uncover the connection between your mind and body, and understand the role emotions play in your overall health.
Over time, you'll become your own coach, effortlessly applying these tools to create a fulfilling and meaningful life, however that looks to you.
The work starts by noticing what is happening in the body - the sensations, feelings, and importantly, the underlying emotions connected to these. In simple terms, emotions are messages designed to guide us and keep us safe and happy. MBR teaches us how to tune into these emotions and use them to enhance well-being.
Clare Caldwell, the founder of MBR, says the body speaks to us in emotions and shouts at us in physical symptoms. So, if we ignore our authentic emotions then over time, it can start to send us physical symptoms to get our attention. If this continues, we can find ourselves in what we call in MBR ‘the symptom state’, where physical symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, pain and burnout are significantly impacting on our health and ability to live the lives we want.
When we understand what is happening and what our body is trying to tell us, we can take appropriate actions to change our responses to these emotions and build a life that is authentic, has purpose and meets our needs.

Ongoing sessions are usually around an hour in length - all sessions cost £90.
Financial Assistance
I offer a limited number of reduced-cost spaces for individuals on low income or benefits. This can be discussed during the free 30-minute consultation. Please note that there may be a waiting list for these spots.
We can also discuss payment plans if cost is a barrier.
Duration
MBR is designed as a short to medium-term intervention where you learn the tools to become your own coach. The number of sessions varies based on individual needs, and we regularly review your progress. We start with weekly sessions, transitioning to fortnightly as you gain confidence using the tools.
How it Works
Hi, I'm Rosie.
I'd experienced chronic health issues since childhood, starting with repeated throat infections and glandular fever, which led to having my tonsils removed and needing a blood transfusion as a teenager. In my mid-twenties, I was diagnosed with IBS and frequently experienced fatigue and brain fog. I also struggled with anxiety and depression which made daily life increasingly difficult.
My health reached a crisis point after a prolonged period of work-related stress, coupled with the pressures of planning a wedding. After moving to Bristol with my husband, my nervous system became overwhelmed, and I was in constant pain. Fatigue and brain fog made it nearly impossible to function.
I was in a new city, in my first year of marriage, with a husband who was now becoming my carer and I had no ability to go out and make friends or explore the city. I was scared and thought that my life as I had known it was over, and I was only 30.
Luckily for me, a friend of mine had gone through a similar experience a few years earlier and when she heard what was happening, suggested that I wasn’t having a total breakdown, but that this was likely to be chronic fatigue and that I should try Mickel Therapy (the predecessor of MBR). She connected me with Clare Caldwell, founder of MBR, who was then a Mickel Therapist, and I began my journey. The tools and theory behind Mickel Therapy resonated deeply with me, leading to a full recovery from my physical symptoms.
Since then, I have used these tools to build a fulfilling life. In 2022, I completed my MBR training and am so excited to share these tools with others and support clients in achieving their recovery goals. I find the coaching process incredibly rewarding and love helping people make positive changes in their lives.
Before focusing on MBR full-time, I had a fulfilling 20-year career in the voluntary and public sectors. I worked with vulnerable people in day centres, supported housing, a domestic abuse charity, and a drug and alcohol service before moving to the Local Authority to commission health services. Throughout my career, I've mentored and supported countless individuals and teams to thrive.

The tools are straightforward and easy to use and support well the process of learning, growth and recovery. It is also a set of tools for life I feel sure will help me long beyond the recovery process.
Rosie is a warm, knowledgeable and generous practitioner. I looked forward to all my sessions with her, which gave me a regular boost and made me feel supported and safe with her guidance. She always prepared thoroughly for our sessions and often offered valuable nuggets of advice from her own learning and experience and that of others. This helped me navigate through some of the tricky aspects of my condition and recovery in a way that felt solid and supported. She also coached me through some key milestone moments which proved important in me trusting my body and my own resilience.
I would recommend Rosie to anyone who feels they may benefit from the MBR journey, as a caring, wise and compassionate guide.

MBR has really helped me realise the effect that emotions and thoughts/feelings have on your physical and mental health and then result in your body manifesting physical symptoms. It has helped me work out how to deal with initial thoughts and emotions to stop the physical symptoms manifesting or spiralling.
Rosie is absolutely brilliant. She is a very calming, positive and understanding person to undertake this process with. Rosie is also very knowledgeable in this field and is very good at helping you understand the theory behind the process – which for me is very important. Rosie is very accommodating and sympathetic. I cannot recommend her highly enough as a practitioner.

Rosie Closs – what to say about this incredible human? I have learnt so much from her. She is insightful, wise, caring, skilled, intuitive and kind. She listens. And I don’t mean the surface-level-head-nodding kind of listening, I mean the real and rare kind of listening. She knows just what to say and when to say it. My life is richer and clearer having met her and I am filled with gratitude for having her in it. If you are unsure whether to reach out for help, make the call, just take a breath and do it. It’ll change your life.
